ABC/2 Formula for Intracerebral Hemorrhage Volume
Measure the greatest hemorrhage diameter on the CT slice with the largest hemorrhage area.
Measure B perpendicular to A on the same CT slice.
Enter the total hemorrhage depth in the same shared unit as A and B.
Use one shared linear unit for A, B, and C.
Clinical noticeEducational support for estimating spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage volume from image-derived measurements. It does not replace neuroradiology review, formal volumetric methods, or guideline-based treatment decisions.
Context and use
ABC/2 volume = (A x B x C) / 2
If measurements are entered in mm, they are converted to cm before applying the formula.
Irregular morphology adds an accuracy warning only; the numeric result remains standard ABC/2.
