ABIC Score for Alcoholic Hepatitis

HepatologyGastroenterologyPrognosisBeta toolThis tool is in beta. It has undergone internal validation but still requires additional testing. Always confirm the data entered and the results obtained before clinical use. It should not be used as the sole basis for clinical decisions.
Adult age in years at admission/day 0. This implementation rejects values below 18 years.

Enter baseline admission/day-0 bilirubin. Negative values and unsupported units are rejected.
Enter baseline admission/day-0 creatinine. Negative values and unsupported units are rejected.
Baseline admission/day-0 INR. The value must be non-negative.

Clinical noticeEducational use only. Interpret ABIC alongside the full clinical assessment, current guidance, and other appropriate prognostic tools.

Context and use

ABIC = (0.1 × age) + (0.08 × bilirubin in mg/dL) + (0.3 × creatinine in mg/dL) + (0.8 × INR)

If bilirubin is entered in µmol/L, divide by 17.1; if creatinine is entered in µmol/L, divide by 88.402 before applying the original coefficients.

This implementation uses deterministic thresholds of < 6.71, 6.71 to < 9.0, and ≥ 9.0 because the accessible derivation abstract did not state exact inclusivity.
