Context and use

Assign 1 point for confusion, respiratory rate ≥30 breaths/min, systolic blood pressure <90 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure ≤60 mmHg, and age ≥65 years. The blood pressure criterion contributes no more than 1 point. The total ranges from 0 to 4: 0 is low severity, 1–2 moderate severity, and 3–4 high severity according to NICE.
