When to use the Multilingual option in the consultation microphone
Not every consultation happens in a single language. A patient may switch between Portuguese and English, a companion may help in another language, or the consultation may take place in a language different from the main language of the selected assistant.
The Multilingual option exists for these situations. When it is active, the consultation microphone is better prepared to interpret moments where several languages are used during the recording.
What the Multilingual option does
Each Medgical assistant is optimized for the usual language of its catalogue. In the Portugal catalogue, for example, the assistant is prepared to work mainly with European Portuguese.
When the consultation takes place only in that usual language, the best choice is to keep Multilingual turned off. This helps the assistant focus on the expected language context and maintain higher precision in the transcription and generated clinical documentation.
When to enable it
Enable Multilingual when the consultation includes more than one language, or when the patient speaks a language different from the assistant's main language.
Keep it off
The consultation happens only in the usual language of the selected catalogue.
Enable Multilingual
The consultation includes several languages, language switching, or a patient speaking another language.
How to enable it
You can enable it directly in the consultation microphone settings, before starting or while preparing the recording.

Practical rule
If the consultation happens in a single language, use the assistant in the catalogue's usual language and leave Multilingual turned off. If the conversation mixes languages, enable Multilingual to help the assistant better understand what is being said.
